Paddle dryer
Cooperating on technology with clients from Japan and relying on the reformed technology from America, Our company designs and manufactures paddle dryer. The paddle dryer is utilized for indirect heating or cooling the material of paste, granule, powder or slurry. The paddle dryer can realize the unit operation of drying, cooling, heating, sterilizing, reacting or calcining at low temperature. This special wedge type agitating blades possess higher rates of heat transfer and functions of self-cleaning.
The unique wedge-shaped hollow paddle blades are closely mounted on a hollow shaft. The hot medium flows through hollow shaft to paddle blades. The heat transfer area within the unit effective volume is very large. The hot medium, which the temperature is from -400C to 3200C, can be either steam vapor or liquid type, such as hot water or heat conduction oil. With indirect conduction heating, no air carrying away heat, the heat is utilized for heating material. The heat loss only refers to the heat dissipation through the heat insulation layer of drier to the environment. The heat transfer surface of wedge-shaped paddle blade owns self-cleaning functions. Washing and brushing functions caused by the relative movement from material particles and wedge-shaped surface can wash off the attached material on the wedge-shaped surface so as to keep a cleaning heat transfer surface during the paddle dryer running. The shell of hollow paddle dryer takes the shape of W. There equipped with two to four hollow paddle shafts inside the shell. The shell has sealing end cover and upper cover in preventing powder dust leakage and collecting the steam from material solvent. A baffle plate is installed at material discharging outlet to ensure the height of material level so that heat transfer surface is covered with material fully. The heat transfer medium flows through the shell jacket and hollow agitating shafts through rotary joint. The hollow agitating shafts have different internal structures according to types of hot medium to ensure optimal heat transfer effect.
Equipment Characteristics
1. Paddle dryer has low energy consumption: Owing to the indirect heating and no air carrying away heat, and the insulating layer installed on the outer wall of drier, for slurry material, to evaporate 1 kg water only needs 1.2 kg steam vapor.
2. Paddle dryer has a low construction cost: As the unit effective volume owns huge heat transfer surface, this will shortens the processing time. The equipment size becomes smaller, thus less building area and space are required for the paddle dryer.
3. Paddle dryer has a wide range material processing: Utilizing different hot mediums can not only process heat-sensitive material but also material requiring to be processed at high temperature. The common mediums utilized are steam, heat conduction oil, hot water, as well as cooling water etc. The dryer can be operated continuously or intermittently. It is widely utilized in many kinds of industries.
4. Paddle dryer has less environmental pollution: Without hot air, there is no material powder dust. The evaporation capacity of material solvent is very small and so it is easy to handle with. For polluted material or solvent required to collect, a closed-system can be applied.

Applications Field
The paddle dryer has been successfully applied in the industries of food, chemical, petrochemical, dyestuff and industrial sludge etc. The characteristics of heat-transfer, cooling, agitation make it possible to realize the following unit operations: calcining (at low temperature), cooling, drying (solvent collecting), heating (melting), reacting and sterilizing. The agitating blades are utilized as heating surface which increases the heat transfer area of the unit effective volume. The processing time, in most cases, is therefore dramatically reduced. The heat-transfer surface of the wedge paddle blade also has the self cleaning functions. Compression, expansion and agitation functions of paddle blades can mix material uniform distribution. Material flows in axial direction as "plug flow". The temperature, moisture, and mixture grads of the material are very small within axial range.
1.(Ca2SO4·2H2O),(Ca2SO4·1/2H2O),(NaHCO3)(Na2CO3).Hollow paddle dryer can realize low temperature calcinations by utilizing heat conduction oil. For example dihydrate calcium sulphate (Ca2SO4.2H2O) can be converted to calcium sulfate hemihydrate (Ca2SO4.1/2H2O).Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) can be converted to pure alkali (Na2CO3).
2. By adding cooling medium, such as water, refrigerated brines, the paddle dryer can be utilized for cooling. For example, utilizing paddle soda cooling machine instead of old type air soda cooling machine economize the processing device of energy and tail gas and reduce the operation costs. The paddle dryer can also be utilized to cool titanium, nickel iron alloy powder and all kinds of powder granular materials. Material in single the paddle dryer can be cooled from temperature of 10000C to 400C.

The paddle dryer is applied in fields of compound fertilizer and denaturated starch. The paddle dryer can be utilized to sterilize food and flour. The large heating area within the unit effective volume quickly heat material to the temperature of sterilization. Long heating time which can cause material changes can be avoided.
